Title: Part of an outstanding series of Field Guides
Review: This is my eighth Field Guide in the North Woods Naturalist Series. I take daily Photo walks in a Preserve most of the year. Then, when I get home I look up all the insects, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and spiders I have photographed. Were I allowed to give this series more stars, I would. They cover everything I need to know. IF the series ever gets digitized, I will buy them all again. They are that good.

Title: Probably the single best written, and user-friendly field guide available today.
Review: This new publication has a wide variety of extremely beautiful and very helpful photographs, and is unique in its easy-to-use design. The author has been an expert with Amphibians and Reptiles for several decades and this latest field guide-type book is easy to keep in a pocket when exploring any habitat, and is top-notch in every way. I also own and appreciate “herp field guides” with a nation-wide focus. But this superb and inexpensive guide easily out shines the others in a number of important ways.

Title: Comprehensive and Well Illustrated
Review: After searching for a sort of field guide to reptiles and amphibians I chose this one because it is both comprehensive, covering all species of reptiles and amphibians occurring in the upper Midwest and it is well illustrated with multiple images of each species. It is a compact book that fits in a back pocket, a great asset for a field guide. Sheldon has put together a great resource for anyone in Michigan, Wisconsin or Minnesota interested in identifying and learning about local reptiles and amphibians.
