Title: Good scanner. Worth the money.
Review: I kept going to autozone to scan for an issue I was having. The scanner they gave me kept bringing up an evap leak. I bought this scanner on sale and used it for the first time this weekend. It did show the evap leak but also a cps intermittent problem. I replaced the cps and all is good now. This is a decent unit for the price. Just have to do things in sequence to get it to connect. Very happy with it.

Title: Very very useful, easy to use
Review: I have had an older OBD2 scanner since about 2000 A.D. It had been well-used, but I didn’t realize what I was missing with that older unit. This BLCKTEC 440 has many useful features, including (the obvious) reading and interpreting the OBD codes. Additionally it can tell ahead of time if the vehicle is “smog test ready”. That alone would have saved me many $$$ and repeated trips to the smog check place. And much more. Very happy with this unit ð

Review: I used to own an automotive repair shop. I’ve bought the expensive scanners. I have them In Kansas City. The other day up in N. Idaho, I was driving my motorhome and the check engine light came on. I could have gone to the local parts store and scanned it but I thought why not try a hand held scanner. I read about them and this one seemed to offer more than I would ever need and it was still inexpensive.I received it yesterday at my location and I have to say I’m impressed. It does not require reading a phone book to get going with it. In fact, within 15 minutes of opening the box, I knew what had triggered my check engine light, and how to fix it (part of the package you get with this tool). PO1131 B1S1 which is the upstream bank one O2 sensor, constantly reading lean and not switching.Impressive little tool. I never replace a part without first checking the basics (for a vacuum leak) and having the exact same code set 3 times before I’ll consider condemning a part. The reason I chose this scanner (the 440) over the less expensive ones is the live stream data.I can watch my O2’s data stream live and measure the readings while checking for any vacuum leaks – LIVE. By introducing propane or carb cleaner around any intake ports on bank one, if I see a spike in readings, I’ll know it’s not the sensor and I have a vacuum leak to fix. I can’t do that at the parts store.

Review: Reads and erases codes, helpful with cardiagnostics. However, the free app that really makes the difference, does not work outside the US (I’m in Europe). Don’t t know why, though; maybe something to do with unnecessary corporate greed which seems all the rage these days …
